Karla Rose Pinckney

Karla Rose Cummins Pinckney was born on February 19, 1958, to Kenneth, Sr., and Beckylee (Bryant) Cummins. She graduated from Lincoln High School is 1975. Karla attended DMACC for nursing and obtained her LPN and eventually went on to earn her degree as an RN. She also graduated from Upper Iowa University with an accounting degree. Karla worked at various places around central Iowa as a nurse throughout her adult life and always made many friends wherever she worked. She loved the color purple, Mickey Mouse, and Dalmatians. Karla enjoyed spending time with her kids, cross stitching, and anything that involved racing. Her favorite drivers were NASCAR’s Kevin Harvick and Jammin’ Jimmy Gustin on the dirt tracks.

Karla is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Ashby (Shawn); her son, Kristopher Pinckney; her granddaughters, Kaitlyn (Dave) Garza and Anna Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Zayden, Zaylynn, Lilly, Christian, Aliyah, and Aubreyanna; her brothers, Kenneth “Bud” Cummins, Kent Cummins, and Keith (Lisa) Cummins; her nieces and nephews, Kari Lamoreux, Keith (Lindsey) Cummins, and Alicia (Matt) Coleman; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Lilliana, Harrison, Kate, Barrett, and Cass; and her grand-dogs, Cy and Shadow.

Karla was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Lee Pinckney; her parents, Kenneth and Beckylee; and her partner, Kevin Pinckney.

Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 6550 Bloomfield Road, Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, family would like that memorial contributions be donated to AHeinz57 Pet Rescue in loving memory of Karla.
