Karen McDaniel

Karen McDaniel, 80, passed away on August 13, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital.

Karen was born on November 28, 1943, to Joseph and Marie (Dingeman) Wilbois in Des Moines, Iowa. If anyone knew her, they would know she was a huge Elvis fan. She liked to travel and explored numerous places throughout the years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Iowa State Fair every year and at the Civic Center. Karen loved attending her great-nephews sporting events as they grew up. She enjoyed her time going to restaurants with friends and family. She adored her dogs and spending time with them. Also loved relaxing in the sun. She was an honest and caring person that was all about family. Karen was always there when you needed her and she will greatly be missed.

Karen is survived by her brother, Larry (Sue) Wilbois of Des Moines; her two nieces, Jennifer Wilbois and Melissa (Ryan) Baker both of Des Moines; her three great-nephews, Baylee Wilbois of Des Moines, Brennan Baker of Ankeny, and Brody Baker of Des Moines; and her two cherished dogs, Mia and Winston.

Karen is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McDaniel; her parents, Joseph and Marie Wilbois; her daughter, Debbie Sharp; and her dog, Coco.

Family will be greeting friends on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral service will be held following the visitation at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery; 4909 University Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
