Junella Marie Schultz, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024. She was born outside of Oskaloosa, in Rose Hill, IA on February 11, 1937, to Tim and Della Meinders. She was eldest of four siblings. She graduated from Lacey High School in 1955 and attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa.

In May 1960 she married Keith Schultz in Oskaloosa, IA and they resided in Boise, ID until he was inducted in the military service in November 1960.

From her marriage to Keith, three children were born; Mark (Barbara) Schultz, Pleasant Hill, IA; Michael (Nancy) Schultz, Omaha, NE and Natalie Young of Des Moines, IA.

Junella was the proud grandmother of Justin, Lindsey, Kaci, Benjamin, Gale, Brenna, Brandon, Jared and Corinn. She was also the great-grandmother of Scarlett, Morrison and Jace.

Throughout her husband’s 22-year military career she worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. Over the course of those years, she traveled to and lived in Denver, Colorado, Chicago, Illinois, Munich, Germany, Grand Folks, North Dakota, Taipei, Taiwan, Woodbridge, Virginia, Carol Stream, Illinois, Alexandria, Virginia and then finally called Des Moines, Iowa her home when Keith retired.

In her retirement, Junella enjoyed continuing to travel the world, being involved with the First United Methodist Church, living part-time in Nampa, ID, gardening, baking, sewing, and spending time and making memories with her nine grandchildren. She will lovingly be remembered as a gift of God, devoted wife, wonderful mother and loving grandmother and great-grandmother.

Junella is survived by her two sons, one daughter, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Junella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 6p.m- 8p.m, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St., in Des Moines.
