Joyce Evadean Cox

Joyce Cox, 93, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024 in Altoona. She was born on July 15, 1930 to Harold and Dorothy (Bertrem) Cruikshank.

Joyce enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and fishing. She was involved in the Marine Corp Ladies Axillary where she was the president and was a member of the Am Vets. Joyce was a social butterfly and was very involved with her kids’ events – little league and was the den mother for cub scouts. She loved singing, especially 1940 era music, during World War II she sang on the radio. Joyce was a member of River of Life Church. She will be remembered for being caring, loving and very loyal to her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by her children, Lynda (John) Grant, Jeff Cox and David (Christi) Cox; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, twin sister, JoAnn (whom she loved very much) and grandson, Chad.

Family will greet guests on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A funeral service will follow visitation at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
