Jolene Kay Wood

Jolene K. Wood, age 66, of Des Moines, IA, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Jolene was born on March 7, 1958, in Minot, North Dakota, to Geraldine Poitra. She moved to Iowa in early childhood and was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. Jolene had many great memories of her youth, growing up alongside her eight siblings, raised with love, kindness, and strong family values.

Jolene's primary and most cherished roles were those of a devoted mother and grandmother. She married Charles Storm in 1976, and they spent over 20 years of marriage raising their two wonderful children, Jason and Jamie. Although their marriage ended, their love and friendship lasted a lifetime.

Jolene was also the loving widow of John "Woody" Wood, with whom she shared a love of music, adventure, and many happy years.

Jolene is survived by her children, Jason (Jaimi) and Jamie (Keith); six amazing grandchildren, Katie (Colby), Hailey, Hunter, Carder, Cayden, and Will; and her siblings, Daryl, Danny, Lana (Crystal), Bonnie (Chuck), Tammy, and Alan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Wilson; her brother, Marty Hedstrand; her sister, Brenda Wilson; and her sister-in-law, Kristy Hedstrand.

Jolene's love, laughter, and dedication to her family will be remembered forever by those who knew and loved her. She had a warm and nurturing presence, making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her ability to infuse joy and laughter into everyday moments will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Thank you for being the wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend you were throughout your life. Rest in peace Mom.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Easter Lake Park, located at 2830 Easter Lake Drive, Des Moines, IA 50320, Shelter 2.
