John Edwin Everly

John Edwin Everly, 74, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at University Park & Rehab in Des Moines. John was born May 22, 1951 to Edwin and Joanne (Buckingham) Everly in Des Moines.

John graduated from Bondurant-Farrah High School and attended DMACC. He spent many years helping his parents on the farm and later as their caretaker. He retired from the Goodwill Ankeny after several years of service and lived at Maplewood Village during this time. John found great enjoyment in keeping records of events and journaling his life.

John is survived by his siblings, Marilyn Anderson and Robert Everly; nieces, Teresa (Matt) Faidley and Christy (Ron) Kelley; nephews, Marty (Sonia) Anderson and Michael (Cassy) Anderson; great-nieces and nephews, Benjamin and Daniel Faidley, Tristan Townsend, Karlye, Sofia, Leo, Eli, and Liam Anderson; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Joanne Everly; and brother-in-law, Richard Anderson.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Byers Cemetery near Elkhart.
