Jimmy "Jim" E. Miller
February 15, 1957 — January 25, 2025
We unexpectedly lost a patient, mellow, loving husband and father on January 25, 2025. Jimmy “Jim” Miller was born on February 15, 1957. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1975 and married classmate Laurel Scholten in August 1981. In 1989 they welcomed son Luke to their family.
Jim had a talent for working with his hands and worked in construction and as a skilled machinist. Like his father Ed, repair and maintenance came naturally.
In his free time, Jim’s outdoor activities included hunting and fishing with Luke and with friends. He was also a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. Jim enjoyed watching Luke compete in Winterset sports. Additionally, Jim collected many “treasures’ to be reused, recycled, and repurposed.
Jim survived by his wife, Laurel; son, Luke; mother, Karen; siblings, Marty and Michelle (Jeremy) Knutson; aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A gathering to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Theater Capital Campaign, 121 N. John Wayne Drive, Winterset, Iowa 50273 or AHeinz57 Pet Rescue & Transport, 4002 Ash Street, DeSoto, Iowa 50069 in loving memory of Jim.

Laurel, Luke and Karen,
Sending prayers for your family during this difficult time. One of my best memories of Jimmie was when my wife was coming home from Des Moines and had a flat tire. He stopped, changed the tire and asked if there was anything else he could do and left. Would not take anything for it as was his nature. I really apricated his kindness. May your family never forget what gentle and hard worker he was. God bless your family.
