Service Details

Jill Lynette Warrick, 67, was born November 2, 1956, the daughter of David and Betty (Peterson) Weaver. She passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Trinity Center Luther Park.

Jill was an MIS Specialist for Mediacom (Des Moines) for many years before retiring in 2015. She took pride in her work and enjoyed her friendships made while there. During her career at Mediacom, Jill decided to further education in 2008 and attended William Penn college for working adults. There she was able to study alongside a group of professionals (many whom became good friends) every evening after work. Jill loved being in a social setting in every occasion and was always one of the first to arrive at class and cohort study meetings. She proudly graduated with an associate’s degree in business management in 2010.

Of her accomplishments, she was most proud of her children Jennifer and Joel. Jill loved being a Mom and showed her love and support through each stage of life. She was so very happy to become a Grandma with her first grandson Jalen in 2001. She would jump at any chance to babysit just to spend time and play with him. Later, she was blessed with four more grandsons Jaxson, Aidan, Landon, and Grant. They were her world, and her heart was full! She enjoyed attending their various activities in sports and music, and watching them grow. Jill treasured special time spent and memories made with her grandchildren.

Jill enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. If there was sunshine, she was out in her yard planting, pruning, or weeding her garden areas. She had some raised garden boxes alongside her driveway where she would plant vegetables. She loved finding and growing heirloom tomatoes (even though she didn't like to eat them). She often gifted the tomatoes, unless she made them into a salsa or sauce. Mostly, she loved to see other people enjoy what she had nurtured and grown. For a handful of years, she joined a local garden club where she learned of various plants and was able to travel to many of the members gardens throughout Iowa. She made several friends with the same passion and excitement in everything green.

Jill was loved by many friends and family, new and old, near and far. She contributed to everyone's lives in acts of kindness, and being present. Her advice to us would be to spread joy, love, and enjoy every moment!

Jill is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Brandon) Gaalswyk; son, Joel Moore; grandsons, Jalen, Jaxson, Aidan, Landon and Grant; her sister, Bonnie Weaver; other loving relatives and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Tom, Sandy and Dave.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11am Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St in Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden in loving memory of Jill.
