Wishing the Gustafson family the best in what has to be a tough time. I spent a lot of time at the Gustafson's house growing up - which he later reminded me.... A very remarkable man

I was one of the first 4 children to have open heart surgery at Methodist/Blank in 1957 and I owe my life to Dr Gustafson. I was only 4 years old at the time by I was totally impressed by his kindness.

I was the Medical Director of Mercy Emergency Department turn the 1971 through 81. I was in frequent contact with John. I felt he was an excellent physician and we had a good working relationship. I think he did a fine job at Methodist. He had a great career. A tribute to the profession.
