Jeffrey "Jeff" Lierow

Jeffrey D. Lierow passed away on September 2, 2024. Jeff was born on September 3, 1966, in Ottumwa Iowa to James and Marlene Lierow.
Jeff is survived by daughter Ashley Suzanne and son Cody Eugene, brother James (Debra) Lierow Jr., sister Judy (Bruce) Scapecchi and sister-in-law Marcy Sherfey. He was a delight to all his nieces and nephews. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents James and Marlene Lierow and brother Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Lierow.
Jeff enlisted in the US Navy following his graduation from Lincoln High School. He later joined the Army while attending Grandview College and received a commission as a Military Police Lieutenant. Jeff’s military career extended for 27 years covering a wide variety of roles and deployments.
Jeff also had a career with the Iowa Department of Corrections as a Correction Officer until he had to medically retire.
Jeff enjoyed supporting his children in their successful lives as school musicians and athletes. He was proud to be able to see his daughter, Ashley receive her Master’s Degree in Social Work this year and his son Cody follow in his father’s footsteps and graduate from Navy Basic Training, last month.
He loved being on the family farm in Oskaloosa. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.
The family will greet friends Friday, September 6, 2024 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am with the funeral service at 10:30 am at Ft Des Moines United Methodist Church, 6205 SW 9th Street. Jeff will be laid to rest with military honors Friday at 1:00 pm at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Veterans Home, Ceramic Room in Marshalltown, Iowa.
