Janet Louise Williams

Janet Louise Williams, 85, passed away on October 1, 2024, peacefully at her home.

Janet was born on January 14, 1939, to James and Ruby (Wolf) Merical in Perry, Iowa. She was a very hard worker and worked as an in-home caregiver and retired in her 60s. Janet was a caregiver in all aspects of her life and was very generous to everyone. She was very family oriented, any time she got to spend with her family was always cherished moments for Janet. She was an avid animal lover. Janet very much enjoyed spending her time tending and caring to her home, from the inside to the outside. She took pride in her home and tended to her garden and mowed the lawn herself up to the age of 79 years old. Janet was very meticulous and crafty when it came to decorating inside her home and always keeping her home clean.

Janet is survived by her children, Linda (Kevin, Sr.) Harvey, Richard Williams, Jr., Carrie Glenn, Cynthia (Wayne, Sr.) Burch, Tammy (Mark) Bryan; her grandchildren, Kevin, Jr., Danielle, Shonna, Randy, Jr., Shannon, Ronnie, Shawn, Janet, Amanda, Kelly, Sr., Kyle, Ryan, Sr., Wayne, Jr., Michael, Holly, and Taylor; her 44 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Joann (Richard) Anderson.

Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Williams, Sr.; her parents, James and Ruby Merical; her siblings, James, William, and David Sr; and her son-in-law, Gregory Glenn.

Family will be greeting friends on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home. Janet will be laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.
