Janet Francis, 73, passed away surrounded by family and friends on January 18, 2025 at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines. She was born on August 11, 1951 to Roger and Marjorie (Rosenthal) Francis.

Janet graduated high school in La Crescent, Minnesota. After high school, she lived in Denver and worked as a phone operator for a short time. Janet was self-employed with a cleaning business. She also worked for Nationwide Insurance for 27 years. Janet loved reading, all genres of music, doing puzzles – especially crosswords and was a wonderful artist. She was a wonderful baker and was known for bringing her specialty desserts to holiday parties. Janet had a love of nature and enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds. She loved spending time with her family and could light up a room with her contagious smile and laughter.

Janet is survived by her siblings, Patricia (James) Wiese, Cindy Denning and Jennifer West (Jerry Carson) along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Marjorie Francis and brother, John Francis.

Family will greet guests on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
