James Brose

James Brose, 84, passed away at his home on January 1, 2025.
James was born February 5, 1940 in Des Moines to Edwin and Elsie (Beck) Brose. He was a Jack of all trades. James started his career as a semi-trailer mechanic and later operated two gas stations. He had a passion for carpentry and eventually was a self-employed carpenter. James refurbished and remodeled many homes during his career. He never lost his love of cars. James enjoyed going to the local racetracks, working on cars, talking about cars, driving cars, building custom cars, he was an avid NASCAR fan, especially when Rusty Wallace driving, basically he loved everything and anything related to cars.
James is survived by his children, Jeff (Cindy) Brose, Tanya Patterson and Tim Kline; grandchildren, Jamie Brose, Amber Johnson, Nathan Patterson and Christopher Kline; great-grandchildren, Zayne Brose and Zoey Hunt; brother, Eddie (Sue) Brose; brother-in-law, Mick (Carol) Snyder; his niece, friend and sidekick, Kathy Egge; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary Brose and Doug (Judy) Brose; and the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Norma L. Brose.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 6567 Bloomfield Road in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of James.
