Gunner Anthony Vignaroli
February 13, 1941 — February 06, 2024
Gunner Anthony Vignaroli, known to everyone as “Tony” passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the age of 82. Gunner was born on February 13, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa to Gunner and Jeannette (Davis) Vignaroli.
Tony was a graduate of Saydel High School. He received his invitation from the army to serve his country in Vietnam. He retired from Valley View Village as the Maintenance Supervisor for over 30 years.
During retirement he loved to work for the Department of Public Safety at the Iowa State Fair for various events at the fairgrounds. His garage was always open for various woodworking projects that his children, grandchildren or friends needed help with. He enjoyed being with family and fishing at Lake Panorama.
Gunner is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dianna (DeWitt) Vignaroli; daughters, Kimberly Overton of Des Moines and Denise (Craig) Veldhuizen of Runnells; son Joseph (Traci) Vignaroli of Granger; eight grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Vail and grandson, Anthony Overton.
A rosary will begin at 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 followed by family greeting guests until 8:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., at Altoona Methodist Church, 602 5th Ave., S.W., Altoona, Iowa with burial to follow at Berwick Cemetery in Ankeny, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated to a memorial in Tony’s name at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

Im so very sorry to hear about Gunner. I enjoyed working with him at the Iowa State Fair. He was so incredibly nice and a true gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.

Rest in Peace Gunner, I am proud to have called you my friend. It was also a pleasure to work with you at the Fairgrounds.
Please forgive me for not coming to say goodbye at your funeral. But I would much rather remember our " See you next year " as I left you at your truck the last afternoon of the last year's Fair.

My dear forever friend Diane, since we were 8 yrs old, 🙏Diane and Family Heartfelt condolences to you, family and friends. Tony received his well earned angel wingsI 😇and is at peace and healthy and soars heavens perfect home. I so remember Tony from 9th grade He was always kind, funny, kidding, mischievous and a great person. He loved hanging out with the guys as guys did to be cool, going to Union Park etc, I think I met Tony at the Val air and Riviera dance ballrooms-where all us teens went to gather and meet friends from all schools and Rock n Roll an yes Diane of course went too and as time passed Diane met and marred her life love Tony and She was Tony love of his life, and their beautiful journey began and lasted 56 yrs and still last forever only Tony just resides in his heavenly home, and loves her with his heart as he dies with all his children and grandchildren all relatives. Tho your hearts are so sad🥲 Know he has not left you and he is always with you and Yes recall all the memories you have share them with each other . You will laugh , cry, be bewildered, be angry or even enlighten by how special he is to you ❤Heaven is real Jesus loves you and is watching over you with Tony✝✝🙏🙏 love to all, Judy
