Gloria graduated from North High School in Des Moines in 1951. She then attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO and graduated from Open Bible College in Des Moines. Gloria was a loving, kind, welcoming person. Her home was always welcoming no matter who you were and what time you arrived. You could always find her with a Kleenex in her sleeve. She was a water skier, loved food (especially macaroni and cheese), hot or iced tea, flowers/gardening, reading her bible, serving in many capacities at her beloved First Church, and always calling and singing “Happy Birthday To You” with love and off-key to her kids.

She was a member of First Church of the Open Bible in Beaverdale most of her life. Gloria married Donald Wayne Krantz on August 17, 1956, they had three sons, Steve, Kevin and Ken. Don passed away on February 9, 1977. After Don died, she took over the family jewelry store, Don’s Jewel Box, in Beaverdale. Gloria ran the store with her son Steve until 1995 when she retired, and they closed the business. Gloria married Robert Hall Gilbert on April 15, 1981, and gaining a stepdaughter, Roberta. Bob died on October 17, 1987. Gloria then married Samuel Camos on January 6, 1995. She added 5 stepchildren: Sam Jr, Christy, Mark, Ken and Lori. Her beloved “Sammy” died on September 3, 2021. Sam and Gloria were married for 27 wonderful years.

Adding to this blended family are 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

While unassuming in stature, Gloria was both tough and tender. Her life was filled with many challenges and hardships. A child of the Depression, she lived through many family illnesses, deaths, which included outliving her three husbands, and faced many times where it seemed that there was nowhere to turn.

However, she knew just the opposite was true. Because from an early age, Gloria had a wonderful relationship with Jesus. No matter how difficult the road ahead, she knew that God was right there at her side. Her love and commitment to the Lord was her greatest strength and continues to be a testament to all her friends and family. Her faith was an essential part of her tenderness that she so freely showed by truly caring for everyone, no matter whom. She embodied servanthood throughout her life.

Family will greet guests from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Friday, January 26,, 2024 at First Church of the Open Bible, 2200 Beaver Ave., Des Moines. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the church.
