Service Details

Gina (Cerfogli) Daniels, born October 29, 1956 to Leo & Nancy (Auestad) Cerfogli on their first anniversary, passed away October 14, 2023 at Hospice Kavanaugh House after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. Memorial service will be held at 10:00am on October 23rd at Hamilton’s Funeral Home.

She graduated from Ankeny High School in 1975, she also attended Iowa State & DMACC pursuing a degree in Veterinary Science. She worked in the laboratory/histology areas at Iowa Methodist/Unity Point Hospital for 43 years, retiring in March 2023.

She met her husband Larry while she was attending and Larry was employed at DMACC. They started dating in 1983 and married on April 18, 1986. They enjoyed traveling throughout the country. One of her favorite trips was to the Kentucky Derby, with the highlight of touching the racetrack at Churchill Downs. They also vacationed to Las Vegas several times but rarely gambled. They were married for 35 years until his death in 2021.

After Gina & Larry were married, he introduced her to Jehovah as he was raised a Witness. She was baptized a Jehovah’s Witness on October 24th, 2009 and enjoyed her time spent with the congregation and witness family.

She was also a lover of all animals, especially horses and dogs. She greatly missed her dogs, Laddi, Dino, Brandy and Kola.
In early 2020 she realized something wasn’t right and eventually discovered she had Stage 3 ovarian cancer. She attacked her diagnosis aggressively with a combination of surgery and several rounds of chemotherapy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and several dogs. She is survived by her sister, Judy (Bobby) Singh, nieces Jassi Singh-Daniels and Simran Singh, great niece, Myka, several cousins and her Jehovah’s Witness family.

She would also like to thank Dr. Steven Elg, Dr. Daniel Buroker and the staff at Mission Cancer that cared for her during her illness.
She would also like to thank her friends, family, sisters & brothers that were there for her.
