Fred Culpepper was born and raised in Teresita, MO to Ira and Mabel Culpepper. Fred, 99, passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2024.
Fred joined the military at 18 years old, and served for many years before being honorably discharged in 1946.
Fred drove for Rock Island Motor Freight for 29 years, he also drove for 3M to complete 30 years of service as a Teamster Member. Fred was also an owner-operator for Warren Transport. He later sold the semi and was an owner-operator hauling/delivering frame alignment machines across the U.S. for Duz Mor.
Fred and Doloris were married for 56 years. In their earlier years, they loved to dance. They were often called Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers at the Lake Robbins Dance Hall. Their interests also included camping, fishing, and maintaining rental properties.
In retirement they followed the Good Sam Club from Iowa to Arizona for many years. They enjoyed entering tournaments, such as bean bags, egg toss, horseshoes, etc. Winning awards and badges along their travels. They enjoyed life together!
Fred is survived by his loving wife, Doloris; children, Pat (Jerry) Cairns, Eric Mateer and Sondra Blake; grandchildren, Angella (Tyson) Van Pelt, Ashley (Dennis) Downing, Connor (McKayla) Mateer, Marie Culpepper, Reba Beebe, Mary Jo Goode, Shannon Farsaka, Shane Rogers and Ava Rogers and several great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Jo, Agnus, Emma and Betty and children, Scott Mateer, Mary Ann Kemp and Johnny Weiland.
Family will greet guests on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Following visitation there will be a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa.

I am Emma Jean's daughter and so sorry to here this I always wished I could have sit down with him and learned more about them all growing up at Teresita. Bless your you and your family.
