Evelyn Ruth Hackett
June 07, 1943 — February 10, 2026
Evelyn Ruth Hackett, 82, passed away February 10, 2026.
She was born June 7, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to her parents, Henry and Hazel Lehman. Evelyn married the love of her life, Kenneth Hackett, on November 3, 1961 and enjoyed 64 joyful years of marriage together. She lived most of her life in Des Moines but enjoyed ten years in a lakeside home on Lake Ponderosa.
Evelyn delighted in life’s simple pleasures—tending her flowers & garden, camping under open skies, playing cards with loved ones, and browsing the aisles of Kohl’s. She was also a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. But her deepest love and greatest passion was always her family.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Hackett; children, Michael (Monica) Hackett, Laurie Hackett-Brown, Gary (Cathy) Hackett, and Scott (Andrea) Hackett; grandchildren, Lindsey (Nick) McNeley, Katie (Andrew) Carson, Tyler Hackett, John Fontanini, Alexis (Bryce) Hagner, Ava Hackett, and Emma Hackett; great-grandchildren, Lily White, NinaLou McNeley and Hannah Brown; brothers, Ron (Sharon) Lehman, David (Bev Miles) Lehman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hazel Lehman; sisters, Norma Jean Lehman, Pauline Lehman, Marguerite Lehman, and Violet Van Horn; brothers, Gene Lehman, Donald Lehman, Bob Lehman, and Kenny Lehman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Hospital in Evelyn’s memory.
Family will hold a celebration of life on her birthday, later this year.
