Esther Gonnerman

Esther Joan (Hoffman) Gonnerman, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. She was born on July 5, 1938, in Waterloo, Iowa to John L. and Anna H. (Smidt) Hoffman. She graduated from Waterloo West High School.

Esther married LaVerne Virgil Gonnerman on February 21, 1958 at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. They celebrated 60 years together. Their marriage was blessed with 4 children. Esther accepted her Lord and Saviour at a young age. She loved teaching Sunday School, ministering to women, and was involved in many other ministries while serving the Lord at Ankeny Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 -8:00 P.M., Monday, August 28, 2023, at Ankeny Baptist Church, 2842 SW 3rd St. Pl., Ankeny, Iowa. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2023, also at the church. Private interment will be held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter, next to her husband.

Esther is survived by her sons, Daniel (Brenda) Gonnerman and David (Robyn) Gonnerman; daughters, Darla (Dennis) Green and Denise (Jeff) VanderMeyden; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, LaVerne; parents, John and Anna Hoffman, and brother, Paul.
