Service Details

In Loving Memory of Ellie Jewell. April 7, 2023 - November 16, 2023.

It is with deep sadness that we announce Ellie Marie Jewell peacefully passed away in her parents’ arms on the morning of November 16, 2023.

Ellie entered the world on April 7th, 2023. She was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a condition that would likely mean her time on Earth would be short. Ellie was a fighter and was able to enjoy her half birthday celebration with family and close friends.

She spent her early days in the NICU soaking up all the snuggles from family, friends, and nurses. After a month, Ellie moved home to be with her mom, dad, and brother, Ryan. She enjoyed being outside, watching her brother play, smiling, talking and even laughing. She was lucky enough to attend ChildServe Woodland daycare where she was spoiled with all the love from nurses and staff. Ellie brought so much joy to her family and friends. She taught us to remember what is important in life and to cherish every moment and milestone.

Ellie was surrounded by so much love. Her family wishes to express all their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caretakers that helped give Ellie a comfortable life and made sure she felt loved to the fullest, all while providing her parents with guidance and support in navigating Ellie’s condition.

Ellie is survived by her parents Reid and Angela Jewell; Brother, Ryan; grandparents Tamie Osby of Urbandale, IA, Greg and Terri Osby of Urbandale, IA, Larry and Maribeth Jewell of Loudon, TN; aunts and uncles Tyler and Heather Osby of Urbandale, IA, Jenna and Mandy Jewell-Watts of San Diego, CA; and cousins Piper, Lucy, Liv and Dylan.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St, Des Moines. Funeral services will be on Monday, November 20, at 1:00 p.m. also at Hamilton’s Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ChildServe.

Rest in eternal peace, sweet Ellie. You will be forever missed.
