Donna Fay Karpan

Donna Karpan, 94, passed away January 27, 2024. She was born in Woodward, IA, on June 9, 1929 to Ralph and Lottie (Miller) Wernli.

Donna was an Insurance Specialist with Equitable Life Insurance Company. Besides working a full-time job, Donna was a full-time wife and mother. She was an extraordinary gardener on the farm that she and Jack had. She would can fruits and vegetables for her family to enjoy the entire year. At times you could even catch the two of them having lawn mower races while mowing the yard. Donna was an amazing cook and won many awards at the Iowa State Fair, she was also honored to be in several of the State Fair Cookbooks. She loved quilting and was a member of the quilter’s guild.

Donna is survived by her children, Sherrill Daniels and Andy (Charisse) Karpan; grandchildren, Steve (Misty Huddleson) Daniels, Breanna Lett, Jonathan Karpan, Zakary Karpan, Nikole Karpan and Christopher Karpan; great grandchildren, Joshua Culver, Nicholas Culver and Reese Daniels; great great grandson, Bennett Culver. Along with extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Karpan; parents, Ralph and Lottie Wernli and son, John Karpan.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. Following visitation, there will be a graveside service at 1:15 p.m., at Pine Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
