Donald "Don" Woodford

Don Woodford, 79, passed away peacefully at UnityPoint Health - Methodist on June 27, 2024. Don was born December 24, 1944, to Doug and Jean (Iverson) Woodford, Norwalk IA.

Don was strong willed and stubborn at times but had an enormous heart and a giving nature. Throughout his lifetime, he was always up for a good game of cribbage or pitch, he enjoyed watching the horses run, was an avid chess player and of course, loved his cigars.

Don is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sheryl, extended family, many in-laws, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. His canine companions were dear to him. Max remains behind while Simon, Barney, and Lucy are walking with him now.

A special thank you to Dan Lyons and Heather Kloberdanz for the love and support during those final moments. To the physicians and nursing staff of UnityPoint for the exceptional care provided and the compassion shown throughout this transition.

In typical Don fashion, there are no services planned, certainly no pomp and circumstances. Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s memory to an animal rescue group of your choosing.
