Diane Elizabeth Silver
July 22, 1953 — February 02, 2025
Diane Elizabeth Silver passed away February 2, 2025, at Atrium Village in Hills, Iowa.
She was born July 22, 1953, to Keith and Shirley (Brown) Silver in Des Moines and lived most of her years in Ankeny, where she was a teacher. In 2013 she moved to Urbandale, and finally eastern Iowa to be with her nieces.
Diane graduated Ankeny High School in 1971, followed by Iowa State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She received her Masters in Education from Viterbo in 2008. Diane taught elementary and middle school math and science. She loved learning and was an avid reader. After 40 years she retired from teaching in 2015 and faithfully cared for her father after her mother passed. Diane enjoyed finding new recipes to cook for Keith. She loved animals, especially cats, family time, and texting with her nieces. Diane was a devoted churchgoer and sang in the choir at Berwick Church while her mother played piano. Diane will be remembered fondly as a caring and supportive person.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, and uncles. She is survived by her nieces Lauren (Andy) Lynn and Kristen Silver, who were like daughters, brother Doug (Wendy) Silver, Lauren and Kristen's mother, Anna Silver, great-nieces Ainsley and Charlotte, aunts Virginia Silver and Chris Silver, and many cousins and friends.
The family will be present for a visitation on Monday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity on Fifth, 602 5th Ave. SW, Altoona, Iowa. The funeral is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the same location with a reception immediately following.
Diane's family would like to thank Deerfield and Spurgeon Manor for their care of Diane. They would also like to thank Atrium Village and St. Croix Hospice for their dedication to Diane and
her nieces as they navigated her care together.
Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity on Fifth Church in Altoona, where Diane was a member, or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Diane.
