Diane G. Nichols
May 04, 1955 — December 09, 2024
Diane G. Nichols died December 9th 2024 at Mercy Hospital due to respiratory failure. Diane was born the eldest daughter to Jack and Gloria Nichols of Des Moines in May of 1955. Soon after her graduation from Lincoln High in 1973, her service with the Iowa Wine Advisory Board launched her on a vibrant career as a wine consultant. Employment opportunities took Diane to Minneapolis, Las Vegas and locally to Kylie Inc. work “requirements” involved travel to destinations such as Napa Valley and Florida as well as frequent fine dining.
Diane was an ardent jazz fan, an avid reader and a movie buff. She shared her Mom’s flare for design and personal style. Rare was the day when Diane didn’t share her home with a pampered feline companion. She was a cheerful, caring and generous spirit. A worsening COPD condition failed to dim her kind nature or her sense of humor. Diane was a longtime member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Diane was preceded in death by her mom, brother James and dad. She is survived by her sister Sharon Parry of Grimes, brother Steve, cousin Debi and niece Rachel.
Memorial contribution suggestions include the Animal Rescue League and the American Lung Association.

I remember meeting Diane at 17 years old in a record shop in the Drake area. She was cool, and beautiful. We became a trio. Diane, her sister, Sharon and me had many exciting moments , and we “grew up” together trying to navigate through life. We listened to each other when we had breakups, heartbreak and losses. We were always lifting each other up! May your light continue to shine as I will always cherish the memory of our lives. RIP, my friend.
