Dennis “Denny” Darrell Morton, 76, went to be with his lord and savior on January 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Denny was born on May 26th, 1948 to Darrell and Ethel (Kanan) in Des Moines, Iowa. His family moved to Bondurant, Iowa when he was three years old, where he went on to graduate high school from Bondurant-Farrar and where he eventually settled down to raise his family.

Denny married his sweetheart, Marcia, on November 4th, of 1967 and the two eventually welcomed two sons. After finishing school at DMACC he worked in IT for the State of Iowa until he retired in 2009. Denny volunteered for the Bondurant Fire Department for many years and eventually became fire chief.

Denny had many interests including a love of traveling, which included scuba diving trips and camping. The couple spent many years camping with family, friends, and camped all across the US, including yearly camping trips to Michigan to watch NASCAR. He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and attended many football games. Denny loved his church and was very active in many different capacities, including serving as a deacon, helping with AWANA, and other positions, including a favorite pastime, mowing the church lawn. The biggest enjoyment of his life was spending time with his family and he was proud of each and every one of them.

Denny is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marcia, two sons, Todd (Lora) of Gainesville, GA, and Tate of Bondurant, Iowa. He adored his three granddaughters, Casey (Matthew), Amanda, Becca, and was blessed with two great-granddaughters, Emelia and Margot. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David.

Family will greet guests on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Southeast Polk Family Church, 877 NE 64th St., Pleasant Hill, Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at the church.
