Debra Kay McGrew, 70 passed away on March 30, 2024, at EveryStep-Kavanagh on 56th. She was born on August 14th, 1953, to Floyd and Arlene (Teepe) Billings.

Her father was a machinist following his service in the Air Force in World War II and her mother was an executive secretary for an engineering firm.

Deb was born in Charles City, Iowa. However, the family made their home in Burnsville, MN. Deb graduated from Burnsville Highschool, MN.

After graduation she married Michael Vik, and they had two daughters, Arlene, and Brandi. They spent many years in the Rochester, MN area where she worked as a teacher aid and later worked at the Mayo clinic in medical records.

In July of 1995, Deb was united in marriage to Earl “Butch” McGrew. Adding to the family were Butch’s son’s Devon McGrew and Trent McGrew. They spent their years together in the Johnston, IA area.

Deb worked for a law firm in Des Moines for the last 18 years. She loved working outside in her garden with her flowers, making flower arrangements and any type of sewing, arts, and craft items. Most of all she loved her daughters, grandchildren and was looking forward to meeting her second great grandson that made his way into the world in mid-April.

Deb is survived by her daughter, Arlene Wegner, Stepsons, Devon McGew, Trent McGrew, Brother, Dennis Billings, Sisters, Patrica Jensen, Diana Stang, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many other important family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Butch; parents; brother Robert (Bobby) Billings, daughter Brandi Beckman.

Services for Earl “Butch” McGrew & Debra McGrew will be:
June 27th, 2024, Family Memorial will be held at Van Meter Legion 10:30 am – 11:45 am.
June 27th, 2024, Service 12:30 pm will be held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive Adel, Iowa.
