Darwin Alan Bengford
Des Moines, Iowa
Darwin Alan Bengford was born on February 6, 1948 to Leo and Neva (Hatch) Bengford in Sac City, Iowa.
Darwin grew up in the Nemaha and Odebolt, Iowa areas. He went through the school systems in that area. He married Sharon and to the union was born two children, Jamie and Vicki. He later married Pam Morningstar and gained a son, Lynn.
Darwin was known for his many talents and hobbies, as there was nothing he could not make or fix. He loved woodworking and made many beautiful pieces for loved ones and others. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and anything outdoors. Darwin also enjoyed running the town with his buddy, Danny. He took pride in his garden and had quite the green thumb. He had the ability to take someone’s trash and turn it into his own treasure. He worked for the Filling Station as well as Carrier Auto. At one point he also owned and operated his own business doing handy work for others. He volunteered for the fire department and was a bus driver in the town of Odebolt. Darwin worked for Municipal Supply in Des Moines from 1992 through 2024, when he retired. There was nothing he could not do.
Darwin never met a stranger and always had a helping hand when needed. He endured his sickness with much patience and gratitude for his many visitors and loved one’s there to help him. He never complained.
Darwin is survived by his wife, Pam; children, Lynn, Jamie and Vicki; grandchildren, Macy, Megan and many more; brothers, David and wife, Sue, Bob and wife Joan; sisters, Janice, Shirley and husband, Don, Carol and Mary and his uncle, Lou.
