Darron Haygood
November 16, 1987 — April 17, 2026
Darron Haygood was born November 16, 1987, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, to Donnie Haygood and Bernita Jones. He passed away on April 17, 2026, leaving behind a life defined by creativity, warmth, and a deep love for living.
A graduate of East High School, Darron earned his Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television, and Film from Howard University, where his passion for the arts took root and flourished.
Darron expressed himself through photography, acting, and singing, bringing energy to everything he touched. In recent years, he worked at Kirkwood Community College and Mercy Hospital, where his kindness and welcoming spirit made a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
A childhood leukemia survivor, Darron carried a profound appreciation for life. He embraced every moment, especially through travel and food, exploring the world from Thailand and Ghana to Italy, London, and Paris, as well as destinations across the United States. He found joy in every culture, every meal, and every new experience.
He is survived by his parents, Donnie Haygood and Bernita Jones; his brother, Dante Haygood of Chicago, Illinois; and a large, loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Donnie Haygood Jr.
Darron will be remembered for his personality, artistic spirit, and fearless sense of adventure in life that inspires others to live fully, love deeply, and stay curious.

Words cannot express the deepest sympathy I extend to the Jones/Haygood families. Although I didn’t have the good fortune to know Darron as an adult, I still have fond memories of him growing up. I remember him being quiet, shy and very respectful. I’m guessing he carried some of those traits and many more into his adulthood. Families, please be encouraged. God is still in control and wants you to trust him to be your comfort during this difficult time. Be blessed and stay in the Master’s hands.

I still remember when I met you Sophomore year at Howard. I never expected you to become my brother! 3C+D (Corbin, Christian, Chew & Darron) ran those Howard halls. We all met each other’s friends, families & you were a perfect fit.i just talked to you last month & we were trying to get you to Cincinnati in October… Regardless, we’ll always have those memories. I love you & I miss you! Watch over me. HAYGOOD FOREVER!

Sending so much love and comfort to the entire family during this incredibly difficult time.
Darron truly was everyone’s favorite, and he will be missed more than words can say. I still remember being a kid and thinking he was the coolest cousin I had. I wish I could turn back time and relive some of those moments.
I love you all and am keeping you in my prayers, asking for strength, peace, and comfort for each of you!

I was so very sorry to hear of this loss. I cannot imagine the pain you all must be feeling.
Darron was truly one of a kind—someone who could light up any room with his humor, energy, and charisma. He was such a driving force. I remember his commanding personality from High School and our interactions since then. As we grew into adults, what always stood out to me most was how he was constantly on the grind and always striving for more. It was incredibly inspiring to see, and it left a lasting impression.
I can still hear him saying “ I’m going to be a Howard Man!” Knowing he made that happen and was able to see the world brings me so much joy. Those were things he always aspired to do.
I will always carry fond memories of Darron with me. I feel lucky to have known him. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

My sincere condolences, May the Lord heal hearts, and comfort. My deepest thoughts and prayers to Darron s family. I knew this great young man through my son at a young age. He was a person with wide-eyed wonderment, curiosity, and calm about him. A very deep Spirit smile that brought happiness to people around him. His spirit is in the loving hands of the Lord, reconnecting with loved ones. Looking down smiling knowing that the paradise he is in will be with us all.
