Char Win
of Des Moines, Iowa
Char Win, age 17, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He was born the son of San Thin Gonzelez on September 6, 2006, in Thailand at Mae La Refugee Camp. Char was 2 ½ years old when they moved to Des Moines, Iowa.
Char enjoyed watching Anime, playing video games, going to the gym, and playing basketball. He took great pride in his appearance, he always looked nice and had great hygiene. He was known to talk others into changing their own outfits so they were equally as dressed up as him when they went out together. Char was known by all as a sneaker head and he made sure to work hard so he could buy more shoes. Char was full of life and had a joke for everything! He would do anything to make his mom happy and enjoyed helping his mom with fundraisers in the community. He had the biggest heart, always made sure his loved ones knew how much they meant to him and how lucky he was to be in their lives.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving mother San Thin Gonzelez, one sister, three brothers, grandma Mo Chuie, favorite cousin Poe Si, and girlfriend Queenie.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024, with funeral service following at 1:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Char Win, I didnt get to know you that well but, during middle school you made life much better, you were always so happy and joyful and you were always so strong, you motivated me to hit the gym, you changed my way of thinking. I never got to spend much time with you, but even if it was just a simple hi or hello it would make me feel like I was part of your friend group, you made me feel included in things even though I had no concept of what you guys were talking about, you taught me things I wasnt aware of - even if it was in a physically painful way, but even so you were there for me you made middle school and high school so much better. I hope your soul resets in peace

Man char, I got to spend some of the best memories with you, Sadly, God had different plans for us. I'm more motivated than ever to just do the right thing. I wish we could have made more memories, but i am so glad i got to spend every moment of my early recovery with you. Seeing you change was the best part of knowing you. You were influential and just overall a great person, I love you bro. Rest Easy.
