Cory Hume Violett

Cory Hume Violett, 68, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023, at his home in Des Moines, Iowa, surrounded by his family. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Peggy and George Violett on April 25,1955.

Cory was preceded in death by his father, George Violett, brother, Ridge (Wendy) Violett, and sister-in-law, Lisa Violett.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Ruth, whom he married on May 8, 1992; his mother, Peggy Violett; brother, Kipp (Cristina) Violett; five daughters, Amanda (Dan) Hinch and their children, DJ (Morgan) and Kaci Hinch; Sarah (Dan) Brincks and their children, Samantha and Tyler Schilling and Nathan Keller; Hayley Violett and her children, Madison Todd and Caleb Barnes; Kelsey Violett and her children, Montana and Hayden Green; and Jordyn Violett (Brandon Fink) and their child, Charlotte Fink; seven great grandchildren, Bonnie and Barrett Hinch, Landon, Madden, Ashton and Nolan Stanley and Camdyn Schilling; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Cory spent his years working as an HVAC technician which included 30+ years with Goodwin Tucker where he met many of his lifelong friends. He enjoyed his recliner the most, however, we must include his love for the outdoors and he had an amazing green thumb. He was well known for his sharp tongue and sarcasm, but mostly for his never-ending dedication to help the people he loved.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at the Fort Des Moines Park, 7200 SE 5th Street, Shelter #2 from 12pm-3pm.
