Service Details

Christopher (Chris) David Fletcher, 59, passed away Sunday June 16, 2024 after a long 4 ½ year battle from a major stroke in December of 2109. Chris was born on February 12, 1965 in Columbus, GA to David Fletcher and Joyce Wagner (Maskrey).

Chris grew up on the south side of Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School. Chris also attend Iowa State University and earned his bachelor and master’s degree majoring in architecture engineering.

Chris enjoyed restoring cars, specifically he was fond of the Pontiac Trans Am. He enjoyed attending Good Guys every year with his brother Chad and close friends. He was passionate about muscle cars and pushing the limits.

Chris was quiet to most, but had a knack for finding the humor in the most unlikely places, often delivering punchlines with cynicism that could rival the greats. Whether he was poking fun at the absurdity of life or turning everyday mishaps into comedy gold, he had a way of making even the darkest moments a little brighter through his comments or even his funny t-shirt choices.

Chris’s friends describe him as a true friend in every sense of the word. He was always willing to lend a hand or provide a well-timed sarcastic remark whenever life got them down. Chris was always willing to go to bat for what he believed in and was loyal to his friends and family. He will always remain the “feisty” red head who would stand up to the giants in the world.

Chris is survived by his father, David Fletcher and step-father Jim Kling of Palm Springs, CA, son Nathan Fletcher of Colorado, brother Chad Maskrey and sister Natalie (Maskrey) Keeney. Chris was proceeded in death by his mother Joyce Wagner (Maskrey).

Memorial contributions can be made to On with Life in Chris’s name.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later day by the family.
