Christian Kimmel
November 11, 1995 — July 06, 2024
Christian Alan Kimmel, 28, passed away on July 6, 2024. He was born on November 11, 1995 to Timothy and Jennifer (Secrest) Kimmel.
Christian was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #347, for which he was very proud. He also worked at Fareway part time for 10 years. He loved his jobs, the camaraderie, and close friendships that were developed with his co-workers. He enjoyed time with his family and cooking with his girlfriend, Nina Papiboune. He especially enjoyed spending time with his two fur babies, Craig and Blackjack, who meant the world to him. A good meal was one of his favorite things, and he savored a wide variety of cuisines and new hot sauces.
Christian was a gentle soul with pure intentions and a warm smile, which he shared with anyone whom he came in contact. He had an infectious laugh, and he didn’t judge others based on appearances or wealth. He loved going fast and taking risks, playing in the mud and riding dirt bikes from a young age. He didn’t mind getting dirty and doing the hard work. He was generous and would go out of his way to open a door for others or thank a Veteran for their service. He had a heart of servitude and always aimed to help others. To know and love Christian was to be touched by radiant sunshine.
Christian is survived by his parents, Timothy (Jennifer) Kimmel of Altoona and Jennifer (Steve) Apland of Bondurant; girlfriend, Nina Papiboune; brother, Kaleb Gleason of Newton; sister, Teaghyn Kimmel of Altoona; 3 step-sisters; 7 aunts and uncles; 42 cousins; 3 grandparents.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather in 1987; paternal step-grandfather in 2023; maternal grandparents, Gordon and Vada Secrest; step-grandfather, Richard Apland.
Family will greet guests on Tuesday, July 16 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home 105 4th Street S.W., Altoona. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Altoona Cemetery in Altoona.

We never met this young man but he will live on through the kidney which my brother received. Our sympathies go out to Christian's family. He was also a union brother of our son. Thank you on behalf of our brother Bob Gillman.
