The Life of Sister Cherae Danyae Evans
Cherae Danyae Evans, also known as GiGi, was born on November 7, 1992, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa to Daniel and Rochelle (Fountain) Evans and received her first title of daughter with another title of baby sis to Cherelle as well as granddaughter, great granddaughter, niece, and cousin. In two years, she received another title of big sis to a little brother named DJ.
GiGi was enrolled in the Des Moines Public School system attending Cattell Elementary, Goodrell Middle School and East High School graduating 2011, giving her two more titles of student and high school graduate. Immediately after high school GiGi attended Aveda Institute Des Moines where she obtained her license of cosmetology and graduated in 2013, receiving another title of college graduate. She passed her boards with flying colors. Oh the joy after graduation. She was immediately hired at JCPenney hair salon at Valley West Mall in 2014, which gave her yet two more titles, coworker and friend. Her former boss Robin, under her teaching, GiGi started to blossom as a hairstylist. Her current boss Trey, pushed her to expand and soar high and we could see she enjoyed the fruits of that labor. She especially enjoyed spending time with her hair salon family, as she called them, on their various outings and as you can see, they are all here. That’s love, thank you JCPenney hair salon.
On April 27, 2016, GiGi went to Mercy Hospital to receive yet another title called mommy to a beautiful baby girl named Zielle. GiGi became the best mother, dance mom and party planner all while taking care of her beautiful baby girl, Zielle, who was her pride and joy! For Zielle, the sky was the limit.
GiGi enjoyed playing games with her mother, Skippo, Phase 10, UNO Wild just to name a few.
GiGi also enjoyed mastering her mother’s cooking, especially her baked macaroni and cheese.
August 2018, GiGi rededicated her life back to Christ and received another title called a child of God. GiGi was a member of Evangelistic Missionary Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Supt. Gerald Hill where she received another title of Sister Cherae Evans.
In 2024, GiGi gained yet another title called bodyguard/adjutant when her mother was sick.
Last but not least GiGi’s final title was praise and worship and prayer warrior for God. She was reminiscing her relationship with God and all that He did for her. She recognized God as well as things that were not of God.
Her final night on this earth she was cuddled up with her prayer cloth and gospel music was playing in the background as she heard God calling her on December 15, 2024, and drifted off to Paradise early that Sunday morning.
Preceding her in death was her great grandfather, Elder Euric Fountain Sr., her great grandmother, Mother Lucy Fountain, her grandmother, Missionary Betty Fountain, her grandfather, Brother Larry Fountain, and her grandmother, Mother Eartha Evans.
GiGi leaves to cherish her memories her parents, Daniel and Rochelle Evans, her sister, Cherelle Evans, her brother, Daniel Evans Jr., and last but not least her beautiful baby girl Zielle. Her grandfather O.G. Evans. Also, her aunts, Yolanda Bright, Kerceana Evans, Alissa Walker, Classie and Lewis Kinney, Karen Bradley, Teresa and Teddy Jefferson, uncles, Victor and Lucy Evans Sr., Marvin and Tiffany Evans Sr., Larry Fountain, Abraham and Maple Bradley Jr., Charles and Brenda Bradley, James and Sarah Bradley, Richard Russell Jr., Michael and Pam Russell, and Marshall Bradley. Goddaughter, Elizabeth Walker, special friend, Madison Gonzalez, and her JCPenney Salon family. She also leaves a host of cousins and friends.
Cherae’s Homegoing Celebration will be hosted by Corinthian Baptist Church, 814 School Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50309. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by service at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2025. Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery after the services.
