Carolyn Good, 80, passed away on January 6, 2025 in Altoona. She was born on July 29, 1944 to Louis and Grace (Routson) Archer
Carolyn grew up in the Blakesburg area and eventually moved to the Mingo area in her high school years. She and Bill partnered in life and business partners for 61 years. Carolyn was past Mayor of Mingo. Faith was an extremely important part of her life and she was a member of Trinity on 5th, formally known as Altoona Methodist Church. Carolyn enjoyed making ceramics. Most importantly her family was the center of her world, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always made birthdays and holidays feel special. In their retirement, her and Bill loved traveling to Texas and camping.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, William "Bill"; daughters, Terriace (Jim-her favorite Son-in-Law) Burke and Sandra (Scott, her favorite Son-in-Law) Bullock; son, Bill (Jane, her favorite Daughter-in-Law) Good; brothers, James (Karen) Archer and Evan Archer; grandchildren, Karen Burke (Stan Manning), Kyle Burke (Sierra Strauss), Samantha (Piet) Kobussen, Jessica (John) Jones, Rian Good (Aynn Cody), John (Carly) Orlanes and Christine Orlanes and 11 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Grace Archer; siblings, Lee Archer, Dorothy Shambaugh, Lois Martin and Bette Lint.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Family will greet guests one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Carolyn will be laid to rest at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax, Iowa.
