Carl "Pete" Bales
May 11, 1953 — July 28, 2024
Carl “Pete” Bales, 71, passed away on July 28, 2024 at Iowa Methodist Hospital.
He was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina on May 11, 1953 to Carl and Joan Bales.
Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles and loved making new friends. He was quick witted and sarcastically funny. Pete had a creative mind that made him more of a perfectionist.
Pete worked as a foreman at Ironworkers Local 67 until he retired. He was a hard worker and provider and took pride in his work. Pete was a born leader, “my way or the highway” guy. Anyone that knew Pete will remember him for being uniquely him.
Pete is survived by his loving wife Rebecca; daughters, Stacy Dinnen (Matt McGee) ; Kristy (Chad) Ripperger ; Son, Jesse (Brooke) Bales; grandchildren, Zach Dinnen, Alex Dinnen, Tegan Ripperger, Taylor Ripperger, Uriah Bales and Isaiah Bales.
Pete is proceeded in death by his parents Carl Sr and Joan Bales.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Carl and Joan were friends with my parents and taught Sunday School together at Grandview Park Baptist Church. Myself and my brothers went to Sunday School with Pete, David and Andy. Pete was always bigger than life to me, from his HS Wrestling to the Norton Commando MC to hanging off of buildings as an elite Iron Worker to "Poppin" a wheelie on his dirt bike the entire length of our home driveway! He was a "perfectionist" because everything he did, he excelled at. I have so many great memories hanging out with Pete and Becky, Pat Lorey and my big brother in the 70s and 80s. Pitchers of dark beer at Shaky's, deep dish pizza at Felix & Oscars, watching Baretta on TV, movies like Charles Bronson in Mr. Majestic, waters skiing at Lake Panorama. A good example of Pete's athleticism and toughness; we tried everything we could to knock him off an innertube behind my Uncles ski boat and couldn't do it. Pete got in the boat laughing, even though all his pockets were turned inside out on his Jeans "swimsuit!" I have a picture of Pete dancing with my Mother at my DMPD Graduation party; the only time I ever saw my Mom on a dance floor! Heaven just upped it's game with the addition of Pete. In my last email to Becky I told her to hug my hero "Charles Bronson" for me. I know my Mom is doing it now for me in Heaven. Thanks Pete for being my friend and all good times together.

Becky I was so sad to hear about Pete. He was always my favorite cousin to run into accidentily. His smile could light up a room. You and Pete together were magical. I seen the look of love exchange when you glanced at each other. How special to have love like that. Pete was talked about his kids with that special grin only he had. Like he knew his kids were special people and he was proud of it. I can’t imagine how much pain you are dealing with, it was way to soon.i heard a saying years ago and I think it applies to you. “Just remember how lucky you are to have loved someone that is so damn hard to say goodbye to❤️
