Bonnie Lou Bowen

Bonnie Bowen, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, after 12 years of suffering from Parkinson’s and Alzheimer's. She was born on June 5, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Leah Sullivan.

She married the love of her life, Jim (James) Bowen. They met when she was in 9th grade, and married after high school graduation on April 26th, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa.

She enjoyed traveling, collecting monkeys, and making family photo albums. But most of all, she loved and cherished all her moments with her family and friends.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Lisa (Russ Hokanson) and Jeff Bowen. Grandchildren Jami DeVries, Jena Bowen, Leah DeBartolo, and Anna DeBartolo. Honorary grandchildren, Jacob and Cassie Hokanson. Great-Grandchildren Norah and Jolene DeVries, and Maverick Hokanson. Her sisters, Marceen Runyon and Corrine Day. Plus her many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, James Bowen; her parents, Charles and Leah Sullivan; Her Brother, Bob Sullivan; and her sister, Victoria Quellette.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens. 121 NW 60th Ave. Des Moines, Iowa 50313. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens following the visitation.
