Barbara Elwell, 95, passed away on November 5, 2024 in Des Moines. Barb was born on July 9, 1929 in Monmouth, Illinois to Bruce and Jessie Warner.

She grew up in the Highland Park area and graduated from North High School. She met and married Walt Elwell in 1949 and they had one son, Michael. Upon retirement, Barb and Walt enjoyed many great winters on the Florida beaches until Walt’s death in 2006.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Karl; son Mike and her husband of 57 years, Walt.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jody; two wonderful granddaughters, Jessica Elwell (Chris Powell) and Juliane Davis (Cruise) and her precious great granddaughter, Lainey Davis. As well as several lifelong good friends.

Per Barb’s request, there will be no formal service. But she would like to be remembered with joyful reminiscence.

Her cremains will be buried by her beloved husband at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.

The family wishes to thank WesleyLife Hospice and the staff at Deerfield Community for their compassionate care.
