Ardenia Lee, age 60, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away February 8, 2026. She was born June 3, 1965, and lived in Des Moines, Iowa most of her life. She was a loving and devoted mother who poured her heart into her family. She also lovingly cared for her nieces, Paris and Bynea Dawson, treating them as her own and offering guidance, protection, and unconditional love. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great pride in being present, dependable, and nurturing in their lives.
She loved to travel and enjoyed discovering new places, creating memories she cherished deeply. At home, she expressed her love through cooking, often bringing family together with meals made from the heart. Known for her gentle spirit, generosity, and quiet strength. Her love, warmth, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
She spent more than 30 years working for the Des Moines School District as a dedicated lunch lady, a career that reflected her lifelong commitment to caring for others. Helping people—especially children—was not just her job, but her true purpose. Each day, she greeted students with a warm smile and a kind word, making the cafeteria feel like a welcoming place. She had a special way of making those around her feel supported and loved, and her kindness left a lasting mark on everyone she encountered.
She will be truly missed by her children; Jasmine Lee and Ray (Cassandra) Lee. Siblings; Ursula Blunt, Byron Jacobs, Nicole (Brian) Lee, Lori Revell, Janice Jones, Joy Chiles and many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her grandfather Enoch Casper Jones, mother Louise Foster and brother Earl C. Jones.
Visitation will be held at from 12:00- 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2026, with funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50309. Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery.

I worked with Dee at the middle school, and can state that she rarely missed a day, said what needed to be said, and kept those students in line! I admired her for all of these, plus being an overall good person. She will be missed
