Service Details

In the grand tapestry of life, Anthony Joseph Morrow, or “Crazy AJ” as he was fondly known, has finished his earthly gig, taking a final bow on July 7, 2024, in Des Moines, Iowa. Born to the tune of a Los Angeles spring on March 5, 1953, AJ’s Life was a medley of moments played in a key that was unmistakably his own.

As a mechanic at Dave Ostrem Imports, AJ was the ultimate tune-up artist, making engines purr like contented felines. But it was with guitar in hand and the blues in his heart that AJ truly made the world his stage, founding the band Blue Collar Rockers and stringing along anyone who’d listen to the soulful tales he’d tell.

When not tweaking carburetors or strumming stings, our “Crazy AJ” could be found speeding with a zest towards the casino, to doubt trying to prove that life, much like a slot machine, is full of surprises. He bet on joy, wagered on laughter, and doubled down on living with a full heart.

The band of AJ’s life includes his brothers, Tom and Gino; his harmonious sisters, Bonnie and Connie; and his leading man, son Anthony (Tony) Morrow. His stepsons, Gino Candianno and Jermey Fuller, along with a fan club of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, will carry on his chorus.

Preceding him in the great encore were his wife, Rosa Morrow; his guiding star, grandmother Angelina “Nana” Bitetti; parents, Anthony Morrow Sr. and Felicia Morrow; his brothers in harmony, Ronnie and Johnny Morrow. Let’s not forget his lifelong duet partner and cousin, Marty Mauro.

There will be a standing ovation at a celebration of life to be announced later in Des Moines, Iowa. The local funeral home in Des Moines will be the stage manager for this event.

In lieu of sending flowers that merely whisper, consider a donation to his son Tony at tonymorrow1977@gmail.com, which will sing volumes in AJ’s memory. It’s the perfect way to encore a man whose life was a beautiful composition of love, laughter, and touch of the crazy that made him “AJ”.
