Alma Jean Moore

Born on July 5, 1938, in Earle, Arkansas, Alma Jean Banks-Moore was one of 8 children of Ella Mae Waits-Banks and Willie B Banks.

Alma Jean was a radiant beacon of love, wisdom, and kindness to all who were blessed to know her. At the age of 86, she passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024, enveloped by the warmth and love of her devoted family.

Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith in God and her boundless love for her family. Alma Jean was a devoted mother to her 11 children: Deloris “Sister” Moore, Brenda Moore, Tommy “Jr” Moore, Christine Moore (deceased), Renee Moore (deceased), Jacqueline Austin, Lisa Moore, Doris Santana, Rosezina Moore-Ollie, Catherine Chambers, and Linda Moore. She was a cherished grandmother to her 24 grandchildren and had a host of great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

Alma Jean was also a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, whose warmth and humor left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. In her free time, she found solace and joy in reading her bible, sipping her coffee, playing solitaire, listening to her favorite tunes, and watching old westerns. Alma's legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication will forever be etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.

There will be a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Repass will follow at God's House of Power COGIC, 1317 Forest Drive, Des Moines, IA 50314 beginning at 2:30 p.m.
