Aiden James-Harrison Smith
May 12, 2014 — December 02, 2023
Aiden James-Harrison Smith
of Waukee, Iowa
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Aiden. Aiden passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 2, 2023. He was born on May 12, 2014, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the son of Marcus and Amber Smith.
Aiden was currently in 4th grade and was homeschooled by his mother. He attended HSAP (Home School Assistance Program) classes once a week at Rex Mathis in West Des Moines, but learned everything important at home. When he wasn’t with his friends whom he made from all the activities he was involved with in the community, he enjoyed watching Anime, playing Roblox, programming Lego robots, breakdancing, and would read his favorite graphic novels (5 Worlds and Wings of Fire) over and over for hours. Aiden dreamed of being either an Engineer like his father, a Chemist because of his love for science or a pro baseball pitcher, depending on when you asked him.
Aiden always had a smile on his face and was a bundle of energy. He was known to all his family, friends, and teachers as sweet, outgoing, and well-spoken and mannered young boy. He was forgiving, kind, a leader, and made friends easily everywhere he went. Aiden left a lasting impact on the hearts of many and will be forever missed by all who loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving parents Marcus and Amber Smith, brother Kyler Smith, grandparents Allyson (Brian) Anderson, Kyle Morris, Dione (Quentin) Ferguson, and Shawn Pickett, great-grandparents Patty Morris, Maye Heard, Michael Pickett, and John Madison, aunts & uncles Jenny Higgins, Orlando (Kaitlin) Cramer, Cameron Cramer, Quensy Ferguson, Robert Garrett, Ashley Smith, and Candice Smith, and many other extended family members and friends.
Aiden was greeted in Heaven by great-grandparents Jim Schoonover, Molly Schoonover, Patrick Morris, L.C. Heard Jr., and Dorothy Smith.
Please join our family in remembering his bright and beautiful life. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2023, at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy, West Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023, also at the church followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. The funeral service will be livestreamed through a link that will be available here the day of the service.
Those planning on an expression of sympathy, please direct your memorials to the family.

I miss you. Your energy and enthusiasm was always loved at our house. Maybe a few times I would have to calm it down a bit but for the most part you and Adrian spent your time together well. I Always enjoyed doing crafts and cooking in the kitchen with you two.
A couple interesting facts about Aiden, he could hit the highest of highest squeels I have ever heard. It hurt my ears but was very impressive. He could also run on all 4s like a cheetah. Fast and in sync, again impressive. Gave the biggest strongest hugs. I miss you, we miss you. Sad we will not be able to see the man you were becoming. I know YOU would of been awesome. Adrian talks to you nightly and we talk about the memories daily. You will never be forgotten and will always be loved by us. Till we meet again. FLY HIGH OUR ANGEL!
