Zoë Montenegro-Garcia

Zoë Montenegro-Garcia, age 11, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on January 11, 2026, at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines. She was born on January 14, 2014, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Zoë was a student at St. Joseph’s Catholic School who brought joy, light, and love to everyone around her. She loved soccer and proudly played for UFA, where she enjoyed being part of a team and doing what she loved most. Zoë also treasured time spent with family and especially loved playing with Legos and her cousins, creating memories filled with laughter and imagination.

Zoë is survived by her parents, Ignacio Montenegro Munoz and Ariana Garcia Zuniga; and her three siblings, Leah, Santiago, and Sol.

She was preceded in death by loved ones who welcomed her into eternal peace.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Des Moines. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Zoë’s favorite color was pink, and in her honor, guests are asked to wear pink.

Zoë fue estudiante de la Escuela Católica St. Joseph’s, donde llevó alegría, luz y amor a todos los que la rodeaban. Le precedieron en la muerte seres queridos que la recibieron en la paz eterna.
