W. Wayne Webb
August 06, 1940 — November 02, 2024
W. Wayne Webb, 84, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024.
Wayne was born August 6, 1940. He was raised and lived his life on the east side of Des Moines. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School on a Thursday in January of 1959, and started to work for John Deere Des Moines Works the following Monday. He stayed until January of 1995, after which he was a consultant for John Deere. He traveled extensively and helped the southern dealers with their cotton pickers. Then after a few years went to work with his brother, Jim as a carpenter.
Shortly after graduating from high school, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia in June of 1959. They had a daughter, Kelly in July of 1964, and a son, Michael in February of 1967.
Family meant everything to Wayne and he loved spending time with his six brothers and two sisters. Then when his grandson, Matthew was born, he had the privilege of watching him grow and playing with him, and then helping with his racing motorcycles and race cars. He tried never to miss a race. Then he had his little girl, Emily come along and got to help watch her grow into a young lady. They had many play dates.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Kelly; son, Michael (Robin); grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley) and Emily (Tim); great-grandchildren, Hudson and Haislee; siblings, Mickey, William, James, and Betty; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Helen; siblings, Kenneth, Ronald, Robert, Karen; half-brother, George; and niece, Tracy.
He will be laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Wayne.
