Bill Stalker

William Elmer Stalker, 69, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023. He continued to give the gift of life, even in his death, by being an organ donor and changing the lives of many.

Bill was born June 6, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa to Willard John Stalker and Gladys Ella (Ribbey) Stalker. He was raised on the east side of Des Moines. Bill proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was stationed on a ship in San Diego, CA. Following his military service, he returned to Des Moines where he became quite the handyman. He worked many jobs from plumbing to electrical. Bill was loved by his local community from local business to his neighbors. He was a member of AMVETS Post #2. He cherished his animals and wildlife. Bill was a great dad and a proud grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children, Carly Hanes (Paul), Justin Stalker (Kim), and Grant Stalker; grandchildren, Anthony Stalker, Lucas Casas, Helen Stalker, and Bryn Hermosillo; siblings, Eileen Meyers, Bob Stalker, Willie Stalker, and Kathy Behrens; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Stalker; son, Tony Stalker; brother, Ray Stalker; and his parents, Willard and Gladys Stalker.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at AMVETS Post #2, 2818 5th Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50313. Burial with military honors will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
