Virginia Wallace

Virginia “Ginny” Ann Wallace, 93, passed away November 12, 2023 at Independence Village Waukee.

Virginia was born June 9, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa to her parents Martin and Dena Peterson. She was raised in Highland Park but has lived in the Johnston area since 1949.

Virginia married Bob Wallace in 1949. She was a member of Highland Park Christian Church and American Legion Highland Park Auxiliary, Unit 374. Virginia was involved in many bowling leagues at Plaza Lanes. She worked at Koss Construction and retired after 20 years.

She is survived by her son, Jim (Teresa) Wallace; daughter, Nancy (Douglas) Gulick; grandson, Andrew Wallace; granddaughter, Lori (Ted) Vander Heiden; great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Travis, and Tyler Vander Heiden and Adam and Lauren Wallace; and many nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings, Florence Hartman, Alice Cook, and Robert Peterson.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Park Christian Church, 4260 NW 6th Drive Des Moines, Iowa with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, One Northeast 60th Avenue Des Moines, Iowa. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
