Vicki D. Stroud
June 18, 1941 — January 05, 2025
Vicki Diane Stroud, age 83, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Gary, and is in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, rejoicing in eternity.
Vicki was born on June 18, 1941, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Leo and Jacolyne (Bradley) Anderson. She graduated from East Des Moines High School, where she met the love of her life, Gary Stroud. The two married in 1959 and shared 65 beautiful years together, raising their family and creating a lasting impression of love and devotion.
Vicki was incredibly sweet and kind, and had a compassionate spirit. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who brought joy to everyone she met. Known for her joyous laughter and warm heart, Vicki had a way of making others feel cherished and welcome.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Vicki’s love was evident in every holiday gathering, family trip, and quiet moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved shopping, camping (glamping), crafting, and planning celebrations, always ensuring that those around her felt special. She also enjoyed reading, watching movies, and cheering on her children, and later her grandchildren, at their many activities.
Vicki is survived by her daughter, Lori (Greg) Grant; her son, David (Nikki) Stroud; her grandsons, Zachary Grant, Joshua Grant, Austin (Kelly) Stroud, Ethan Stroud, and Noah Stroud; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Richard Kalina; and many other extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Stroud; her parents, Leo and Jacolyne Anderson; her sisters, Lynette Smith and Susan Clark; her brothers, Steven Anderson and Kurt Anderson; and her great aunt, Marilyn Bradley.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery after the funeral.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Jackie, Skylar, and Katie from Suncrest Hospice, as well as Run, Sherri, Verlynn, and Christy from her care team, for the exceptional love and care shown to Vicki and her family during her final days.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation to charitable causes.
