Trent Hammond
February 02, 1996 — September 29, 2024
Trenton Nathaniel Hammond, 28, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024.
Trent was born February 2, 1996, in Chariton, Iowa. From an early age, music was his life. He lived and breathed writing, producing, performing, and listening to music. The stage was his natural habitat. He supported everyone in local music and wanted everyone to succeed. He loved being onstage with his local hip hop group, $ellar Boiz.
Trent loved his friends like his extended family. He was very social and was never alone. He loved with his whole soul, and was always helping people. He had a bold sense of humor that made him a favorite with friends and family alike. Family meant everything to him. Trent loved being a dad and teaching his girls all kinds of games, especially chess and video games. He had a special bond with his siblings. Trent and his brother Lucas fed off of each other’s energies and would race to be the first to tell their mom thanks for dinner, just to make sure to beat the other one to it. Trent liked “nerding out”, playing Magic the Gathering with his brothers and friends. In his free time, he also enjoyed fishing and art. Trent was very creative and artistic, always drawing or building things. He had a love of classic western movies. He was an old soul and watched countless westerns with his grandparents. Trent will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his big blended family: his daughters Harleen Hammond, Amara Eckert, Alice Hammond, and Charlotte Hammond, his mother Laurie Boggs, stepfather Robb Boggs, sister McKenzie Barreto, brother Lucas Gruchow, stepsisters Skylar Boggs and Alyzah Boggs, his father David Hammond, stepmother Kathy Carruthers, brothers John Hammond and Azriel Hammond, stepbrothers John Johnson and Cory Johnson, stepsister Hailey Wagner, many extended family, and countless friends.
Trent was preceded in death by his brother Adam VanSyoc and grandfather Gene Wright.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Trent.
