Sheila McGoldrick

August 20, 1970 — April 23, 2025

Service Details

Sheila McGoldrick, 54, was born August 20th, 1970, in Des Moines, IA to Francis and Eileen Miller. She passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Sheila was a devoted wife, sister, daughter, mother, and the best Gigi around. She always said to the grandkids, “You were the best part of my day.” Rather than being known for where she worked, Sheila wanted to be known for the amount of love she gave to the people around her. She never missed an opportunity to tell you she loves you. Sheila was one of eight kids with parents that instilled the importance of families, that Sheila passed on to her own children. She loved to travel, having Sunday family dinners, going to the lake with extended family, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Sheila fought cancer with grace and dignity for a long time, but never let it get in her way from enjoying life. A special thanks to her care team at Mission Blood, EveryStep and her hospice nurse, John.

She is survived by her loving husband, Steve; children, Rebecca (Aaron) Hughes and Taylor (Cody) Stegall; grandchildren, Henry Hughes, Emma Stegall and Maverick Stegall; siblings and in-laws, Francis “Bud” (Rachel) Miller, Chris (Kim) Miller, Pat (Kristi) Miller, Monica (Mike) Roland, Sarah (Marty) Dudley and David (Andrea) Miller, Janelle Miller, Christy (David) Bierma, Connie McGoldrick, and many other nieces and nephews.

Sheila was preceded in death by her brother Mike Miller and her mother-in-law and father-in-law.

The family will be greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, with a short prayer and time of sharing at 7:30 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church; 5711 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, also at the church. Sheila will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery following the luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amanda the Panda Grief and Loss Center or The Mission Blood and Cancer-Chemo Center.
