Sharon F. Peterson

Sharon F. Peterson passed away from Alzheimer’s on November 6, 2023, at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines.

Sharon was born on December 18, 1946, in Lake Mills, Iowa to Perdean and Inger “Elnora” (Holland) Peterson. Sharon married Harlan on July 24, 1965. She attended Fort Des Moines Church of Christ.

She loved being on the water which led to her winters in Port Aransas near Corpus Christi, Texas, and summers in Wabasha, Minnesota on the Mississippi River. She enjoyed her morning coffee while watching the birds.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harlan; children, Angie (Jeff) Price, and Brad (Natalie) Peterson; daughter-in-law, LeAnn Peterson; grandchildren, Travis (Brittany) Frankford, Kelsie (Stephen) Steck, Miles (Sara) Peterson, Miranda (Austin) DeYoung, Jordan Peterson, and Kaylee Peterson; great-grandchildren, Liam, Ryker, Paetyn, Ferryn, Titus, Case, Levi, and Rev; siblings, Vernon (Bonnie) Peterson, Dennis (Sandy) Peterson, and Beverly (Dennis) Steffensen; brother-in-law, Russ Schnedly; sister-in-law, Frances Peterson; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bruce Peterson; grandson, Blake Peterson; and siblings, Roger Peterson and Ilene Schnebly.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023, also at the funeral home. Sharon will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa.
