Sharon Kay McNeeley (Sargent) 77, passed away at Valley View Village on November 30, 2024.

She was born May 28, 1947 in Des Moines Iowa to her parents Richard and Elsie Sargent. Sharon married her first husband at age 16 and they had three sons together. worked at the state for many years and was very good at her job.

She enjoyed gardening and was a self-proclaimed MacGyver. There was nothing that she couldn’t figure out! Sharon was a woman of many talents. When she was younger she enjoyed being on a pool league at Smokey’s. She also liked Elvis, 2 stepping, and line dancing at the country pub. Sharon also enjoyed attending craft shows with her neighbor Lori.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was very proud of her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Sharon also loved her fur babies, dogs, Floppy, Muffy, Lexie, and Conan; bird, Casper; and cat, Buttons.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis (April) McNeeley and Jason (Thu) McNeeley; daughter-in-law, Sandi McNeeley; brother, Richard Sargent; half-brother, Kenny Sargent; sister, Bobi (Joseph) Zerbo; grandchildren, Mark (Samantha) McNeeley, Makayla McNeeley, Mike (Sarah Mueller) Elverum, Keenin McNeeley, Aleena McNeeley, Hsin Hsu, and Ching Hsu; and great grandchildren, Harper McNeeley, Hayley McNeeley, Khá Niya Williams, and Archie Elverum.

Sharon is preceded in death by her husband; Marion McNeeley; son, Jack McNeeley; parents, Richard and Elsie Sargent; sister, Charlotte (Phil) Henke; brother, Eddie Sargent; and half-brother, Gary Sargent.

Memorial service will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Inurnment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Drive in Des Moines.
